Two-Part Celebrations for Weddings
Two part wedding celebrations have been around for quite some time especially for couples with strong cultural ties, but are becoming an increasingly popular choice amongst millennial couples for new reasons. We recently shared our thoughts on multi-day celebrations with the New York Times, so we’re expecting to see this trend continue into 2022/2023 + beyond.
So, what exactly does a sequel wedding entail? This is one of the most popular questions we get asked when we suggest that couples consider having a two part celebration. These celebrations really are just what they sound like, two different opportunities to celebrate love with distinct visions. There is no right or wrong way to host two part celebrations, the duo can be anything that the couple wants it to be. Last year, many of our couples chose to host sequel weddings to ensure safety amidst a global pandemic, where they legally tied the knot first and then planned a larger celebration with all of their friends and family to follow.
We believe that these two part celebrations are perfect for any couple who want to extend the party, select two different destinations, or have religious/culture inclusions that each deserve their own time to shine, truly offering couples the best of both worlds - a “dynamic duo” if you will, even if the celebrations are days, weeks, months or even years apart.
Intimacy is Paramount
For the first part of the wedding, we recommend that couples choose this to be a more intimate celebration. After curating your guest list, our full-service luxury planning and production team can develop a customized event with copious amounts of special touches fit for a smaller guest count . Our couples have chosen to host these more intimate celebrations in the comfort of their own home (we love the emotional significance of backyard vows!), family church, or even an international destination.
Take a Trip
Many couples dream of having a destination wedding but are often fearful that guests will not be able to make it. Traveling for part one, whether an elopement or with guests, allows couples to tie the knot at their dream location while also minimizing travel stress for a large group. Home or away - the celebration can continue with friends and family at a later date.
Enjoy the Experience
With multiple celebrations comes more time to socialize with guests. Oftentimes, you may feel pressure to run around and see everyone at their wedding, having two celebrations gives the couple more time to see their family and friends while lessening the pressure.
While some may still elect to stick with one wedding, multi-day celebrations allow brides and grooms extreme flexibility in personalizing their wedding. Ready to start planning your sequel celebration? Let’s get in touch.
