Wedding Trends in 2022 | A Conversation with Bridal Guide Magazine

At Rebecca Rose Events, our boutique sensibility allows us the opportunity to design an event from scratch to its fully realized form. We recently joined Carol Straley of Bridal Guide to discuss trends for 2022 weddings; highlighting the rise of outdoor celebrations, renewed focus on creative details, and the importance of entertainment.

Outdoor Spaces

Outdoor weddings are becoming an extremely popular choice amongst couples due to the immense flexibility and beautiful scenery that they offer. After couples were highly encouraged to select outdoor venues for precautionary measures during the pandemic, we have continued to see more and more couples actually choosing to host their special day outside.  An outdoor wedding removes decor limitations, accommodates bigger parties, and highlights beautiful lighting. Hear what Betsy had to say said about planning a wedding outdoors:

“Outdoor spaces allow you to transform the space into what you want, whereas ballrooms typically confine you to walls and what is and is not allowed. To bring the outdoors in, look for venues with abundant natural light coming in from the windows and doors.”

Tented weddings are a true speciality of ours, as they provide a clean slate and an opportunity to “build your own” venue which can allow for more intricate seating arrangements, detailed floor plans and various vantage points for guests to enjoy the views.

Details & Decor

The uniqueness  + the opportunity to elevate your wedding lies deep within the decor and details of your event, which is why couples should expect to spend around 20-25% of their overall budget on the two. Stationery, tabletop decor, signage and flowers are not to be overlooked or forgotten - these small touches set your event apart and are a wonderful way for our couples to share their love story and show the utmost hospitality to their guests. Becca agrees, saying:

“The sky’s the limit. Tinted glassware, textural layers and colorful pattern blending have been trending.”

Our attention to detail sets us apart at RRE and it is what will set your wedding apart, too. When you work with RRE, you are working with more than just a wedding planner - you will have access to one of the most comprehensively capable creative teams in the industry. We are exclusively a full-service team, meaning that we provide our couples with a world class floral design experience, original graphic design and print production, our vast network of suppliers and production partners, and a highly sophisticated creative process that promises to leave no detail left untouched.

The Sound of Music

Many couples have started to provide several different music options throughout their day and it's a trend that we expect to  continue into 2022 + beyond. For example, couples could choose to have a harpist play at the ceremony, a live jazz trio during cocktail hour, a large band for the reception, and a dynamic DJ for the afterparty. With our vast professional connections to some of the most highly regarded musicians and entertainment agencies in the industry, we aim to provide options to delight every generation AND help pack the dance floor. Here’s what Betsy said about having multiple music options:

“We enjoy placing different groups or music options throughout the party to engage guests and help with the flow of the event. We might program string musicians for the ceremony, contemporary music for cocktail hour and an incredible vocal with instrumentation for dinner. Once it’s time for the dance party, a full band or DJ is ideal!”

While the choice of music ultimately comes down to the couple’s personal preference, our clients never go wrong with having multiple options for everyone to enjoy.

We loved chatting with Carol about these trends and invite you to read the full story in the latest edition of Bridal Guide. Furthermore, if you’re curious about any of trends we highlighted or the work that we do at RRE, get in touch and we’ll set aside a time to chat!
