We may have already had snow on the ground, but today we’re dreaming about bright, warm, southern summer days. And when it comes to cheerful, sweet and southern, Sarah Ann and Blake take the cake! Y’all, we are thrilled to share a peek at their fun wedding today, with beautiful photography, courtesy of Graham Terhune of Anagram Photo.
When we first started working together, a few things became crystal clear. Sarah Ann loved pink, blue and white chinoiserie, and gingham and buffalo check patterns, and Blake loved blackberry cobbler and a lively party. The two of them loved each other more than anything else! With such a fun list of loves, it was such a treat to create this celebration!
Sarah Ann and Blake were married on a sunny July day at the Merrimon Wynne House in Raleigh, North Carolina. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, against a backdrop of fresh greenery and hydrangea blooms, the couple was wed inside the carriage house. A beautiful string quartet played meaningful pieces including “In the Garden,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and “This Must Be the Place.” Sarah Ann and her daddy walked in to “Short Trip Home.” During the ceremony, the congregation sang “Come Thou Fount” the couple’s favorite hymn, which we printed on keepsake cards for each of the guests.
After the ceremony, guests were treated to a cocktail hour inside (and on the porch) of the historic home.
Sarah Ann and Blake had lived in Austin, Texas and knew they wanted to treat their guests to some good BBQ food. The menu that Long Leaf Swine created was incredible and it delighted and surprised guests at every turn! During cocktail hour, pimento cheese tea sandwiches and cornbread chicken waffles bites were butler passed.
As guests made their way back into the carriage house for the reception, they were in for some fun surprises! Sarah Ann’s favorite color and patterns were seen throughout the room, even on the centerpiece bar. We displayed Gigi’s (Sarah Ann’s mother) antique chinoiserie on each guest table and throughout the space. Gigi has an incredible and extensive collection of ginger jars and anyone who knows this family, knows how much the girls love them! Becca and the floral team had so much fun designing in these beautiful heirloom pieces! As if the beautiful room and great band weren’t enough, guests were treated to two amazing BBQ food stations. The NC BBQ touted mac and cheese and pulled pork. The Texas station was complete with brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and potato salad.
In lieu of wedding cake, Sarah Ann and Blake had the most delicious blackberry cobbler. It was *almost* as good as grandmas (but shhh!! don’t tell grandma). After dancing to fun southern beach music, guests were treated to late night Frito pies and Topo Chico. At the end of the night, Sarah Ann and Blake left with a sparkler goodbye, the perfect end to a perfect night!
Sarah Ann and Blake, we loved getting to know you and being a part of such a special celebration. What a joy, and a true highlight of our year!
