R&R at the OBX
Every year at the start of October, my family carves out two weeks for some quality time together on the beaches of Corolla, on North Carolina's Outer Banks. Last year during this special time, I had my six month old daughter in tow. This year she's almost 18 months old and I can't believe how quickly the past year has flown by. I can't wait to watch her play in the sand, frolic on the beach, touch her toes in the water, chase seagulls, and count seashells.
By the time this post goes live, I'll be in the Outer Banks and goodness, I feel so ready to be there. It's been a hard year in so many ways, and if there's one thing I've learned over these past seven years as a business owner, it's that vacation is important. Taking time to rest and relax, breathe deeply, and let your mind reset is crucial, but amazingly hard to do when we're in the throws of a busy season. I love this time not only because I get to spend so much time with my aunts, uncles, cousins, mom, grandmother (who is almost 91 years old!!) brother, husband, and daughter... but also because each year I feel like this trip allows me to hit the reset button on creative energy. It's the best thing I can do for myself and for our business.
While I'm at the beach spending time with my family, our team will still be hard at work. If you see them, give them some extra love, a high-five or two, and tell them they're rockstars. I'm so grateful for all of them!
