An Intimate Dinner Party Inspired by Watercolor

Last month we had the privilege of designing and styling a very special tabletop for a private dinner party. With a guest list of only 12, this intimate gathering couldn't have been a more perfect opportunity to really focus on the details. In designing this tabletop experience, I took a cue from that beautiful artwork that hung on the walls of the dining room: those gorgeous watercolor mountains in shades of indigo. We intentionally maintained a limited color palette of neutral white, ivory, and gray, with only three colorful elements which included the taper candles, the salad plates, and the linen napkins. The table was based on a few simple, yet impactful ideas. Here they are, in no particular order:

1.) bring the beauty of an outdoor garden inside

2.) complement the artwork on the walls

3.) create multiple layers of texture to maintain each guest's interest and sensory engagement

I just love how this party turned out! Enjoy these photos below from Callie Davis of Nancy Ray Photography.
