Wedding Aesthetics in Inclement Weather

No matter how many times we reiterate that it is *imperative* to have a weather backup plan for any wedding or special event, it will always be a sticky subject for any couple planning an outdoor ceremony or soiree. It's not hard to understand why... it's tough to build up a specific vision in your mind and see it all float away (pun intended) on a rainy wedding day. And yet that's exactly why it's so important to mentally - and physically - prepare for inclement weather. Sometimes it's rain, sometimes it's extreme heat or cold, and sometimes it's snow. Over the years we have had to shift plans for all of those reasons, so we're not just talking hypotheticals! But it's not enough to develop a logistical weather plan. You need to prepare your mind and heart for inclement weather too.

Know this: it is possible to have an incredibly beautiful day in the midst of inclement weather. And, from an aesthetic standpoint, it can be even more magical than you ever dreamed.

If it's snowing, put those boots on under your dress, bundle up, and head outside with your photographer. Snow is incredibly stunning in photos and it reflects light in the most beautiful way.

If it's raining, get out there and be adventurous. Beautiful keepsake photography doesn't require sun. It just requires a willing subject and a skilled photographer.

Be flexible, and trust your professional team. A wedding day is about your marriage - it isn't about the weather, and no matter what the weather throws at you - your marriage deserves a beautiful start.
