Libby & Jimmy's Graylyn Estate Wedding
A few times a year, we have the privilege of doing a wedding here in our hometown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Though we find ourselves on the road (or in the air!) quite a bit nowadays, we never tire of working with couples to design wedding celebrations here in our own backyard. Libby and Jimmy's September 2016 wedding at the Graylyn Estate was just an absolute joy for us! Since they both attended Wake Forest University (Go Deacs!) here in town, even though they call Chicago home, Winston-Salem was the perfect getaway destination for their wedding weekend.
Libby and Jimmy's style is classic, elegant, and I have to say... effortlessly chic. It was important to them that each detail be thoughtfully chosen to reflect that style. At every turn in the design process, an ornate/elaborate option was cast aside in favor of a more simplistic one, and I loved their commitment to consistency. Instead of busy artwork or patterns, we stuck with swiss dots and clean thin lines. Charming, beautifully simple, and timeless! So lovely!
Libby's wedding dress truly couldn't have been more perfect. She chose a stunning gown by Le Spose di Giō and was absolutely beautiful. She was radiant!
I love working with Jordan and Landon of Landon Jacob Photography so much. When Jordan suggested the idea of doing Jimmy and Libby's first look inside the grand spiral stairwell area of Graylyn, I knew it would be epic. Just look at that window light!! I have to say, I can count on one hand the number of times a professional film photographer has ever told me that they willfully chose an inside space for portraits over an outdoor space. The beauty of these images is a true testament to Jordan's eye and talent as an artist and I just love how they turned out!
If we had placed an order with God for the perfect weather forecast ahead of the wedding day, I don't think we (or He!) could have nailed this one any better. It felt like something out of a fairytale. The ceremony took place in the White Garden at Graylyn and it was truly magical.
While the wedding palette was predominantly composed of white, ivory and a deep blue... Libby and her mother knew that the right pop of vibrant pink was a must. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven when my order of garden roses was delivered the week of their wedding. Not only was the color spot on, but they opened up to be so large and lovely. Just perfect. Look at those beauties!
After a cocktail hour outside on the terrace, and formal plated dinner service in the living room wing of the manor house, guests adjourned to the lower level of Graylyn to dance the night away. Libby hopped up on stage to sing with the band a few times (she's so good!!) and the dance floor was packed all night long... a sure sign of a great party.
Libby and Jimmy, you two were truly made for each other. Getting to know you and be a part of the start of your marriage was just so.much.fun! We wish you a long lifetime of love, laughter, and dancing(!!!) together and are so proud to call you clients and friends.
However effortlessly any wedding celebration appears to unfold, there is always an incredible team at work behind the scenes. We are so grateful to all of our industry partners that helped bring this weekend to life! Special thanks to:
