Behind the Scenes with RRE Graphic Designer Allison Steinfeld
If you’re a loyal RRE follower, then you’ve definitely seen her beautiful artwork, but may not have seen her face! Allison Steinfeld is our incredibly talented design and production manager who creates everything for our clients from custom duogram or monogram artwork, to entire invitation suites, and everything in-between. She is a graphic designer, illustrator and painter, and her talents truly seem to have no bounds.
We sat down with Allison to take a peek behind the curtain at her creative process to learn what she loves, what she doesn’t love so much and what she can’t wait to work on next!
What is your favorite part of the creative process?
My favorite part is starting work on Save the Dates. It’s almost always the first piece I work on and it’s when I translate Becca’s design notes from the creative session into printed pieces. This is the piece that generally takes the longest for me to design as I’m starting from scratch. At this stage I’m also thinking about how each element could evolve into other pieces down the line, invitations, menus, gift boxes, etc. I just love working through this design puzzle and coming out the other end with something that encapsulates each client’s unique taste.
What do you find to be the hardest part of the creative process?
Letting go of designs that just don’t work. One of the things I love about stationery is that it has to be beautiful and functional. I have to be okay with letting a design go and starting over instead of trying to make something work that just doesn’t. I’ve gotten much better about this over the years. I’ve learned to hold on to ideas that I love because they may work for another project down the line.
If you could only paint one thing, what would it be?
I love being able to paint a variety of things; pets and animals, buildings, and patterns, but if I had to only choose one, it would 100% be flowers.

Where do you look for inspiration?
I love looking at other stationers work but I limit the amount of time I spend doing that, to both avoid feeling intimidated and reduce the pressure I may feel to follow a certain style or trend. Instead, I take a lot of inspiration from nature, architecture, and fine art. One of my favorite places to go is the High Museum of Art here in Atlanta, I always feel creatively charged after visiting.
What upcoming project or piece are you most looking forward to?
There are some fresh and exciting color palettes and lots of pattern play in the future that I can’t wait to dive into!
