Maddie Gets Married: Surprises and Challenges from Our Design Meeting

Last week’s design meeting was. a. DREAM!

Tornadoes and flash floods couldn’t keep us down!

We walked through Becca’s design presentation through the perspective of our guests - i.e. what they’ll see/experience from start to finish.

Kicking things off, our final Save the Date proofs were front and center - and in hand! There’s nothing quite like seeing a design come to life, and there’s certainly no greater small pleasure than truly beautiful paper goods. Becca and I dropped them in the mail earlier this week, and it feels surreal to have another item off the list!

We loved seeing your feedback on the Save the Date proofs a couple of weeks back, and, in case you missed it in our Instagram stories, we wanted to share the final design with you all below!

I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!

Next, we moved to the formal invitation design - not going to lie, I found this a little challenging coming off the heels of our Save the Date creative process. It’s difficult not to gravitate towards the same design, but Allison and Becca knocked it out of the park, presenting a fresh look while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. Two components of the formal invitation I was not expecting - 1) the verbiage we decided on for the RSVP (much more fun and our style than I expected my parents to be okay with!), and 2) a fun surprise “paper” element Allison and Becca incorporated into the invitation suite that I can’t wait to show you with the final design!

From there, we moved onto ceremony and reception layouts for both good and bad weather. Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for the good weather plan, but the good news is - you can’t go wrong with the stunning Carriage House at the Merrimon-Wynne. So turns out, my bad weather plan isn’t all that bad after all! We’ll be sharing more details on the specifics of each in the coming weeks.

Lastly, and my favorite part of the meeting, we reviewed design elements - i.e. tableware, flatware, vessels, linens, florals, you name it! And the best part was the team ordered in most of these elements for me to see in person! I can’t tell you how fun it was to finally see what I’d pinned and dreamed of for so long in its physical form. It certainly helped to solidify or rule out anything we’d been considering.

There are a few additional design elements extra that I’m excited about, like lighting in the Carriage House and our take on one of my favorite design inspirations, but I might just have to save some of those for you to see at the wedding!

xo,

Maddie
