Sara & Justin's Asheville Destination Wedding

Seeing this beautiful wedding day featured on Style Me Pretty last week was a highlight of our year! When Sara Logan (a long-time dear friend and wonderfully talented photographer/industry colleague) approached me about styling her wedding day, I just about leaped out of my chair. I love this lady to bits! She is compassionate, kind, gentle-hearted and committed to creating beauty in the world around her. Sara has been by my side through so many weddings (sometimes as part of our on-site team and other times as the photographer) and has helped me chase dreams in more ways than she probably even knows. To be with her as she married Justin and be a part of creating the perfect atmosphere for such a special celebration was such a huge honor.

These enchanting film images, captured by Laura Gordon, are simply perfect. It was an intimate, joyful day - full of all of the best feelings, emotions and details. The beauty of Asheville, North Carolina was on full display! I ventured up the mountains early that morning and met Sara's sweet mama and sister at Old Sherrill's Inn. They handed me several boxes of goodies they had gathered for the day and gave me a lunch they had packed (including the most delicious fresh figs from her garden - amazing!) and then left to go meet up with Sara and get ready. I had a full day by myself in the most magical place to just create... to create whatever I thought would be most meaningful to Sara and Justin and they gave me full freedom to do just that. I foraged from a fresh garden and listened to the birds sing while I worked. There's no way to describe it other than to say that I felt like my heart was on fire.

The "altar" space behind Sara and Justin as they said their vows was a rock wall with a cut-out bench that was covered in green ivy and other vines. It was beautiful but it felt so heavy to me. Sara's mother had given me a bucket full of white flowers she foraged from her own yard, so I separated the petals and sprinkled the blooms all over the ivy. It reminded me of lace and helped create a softer backdrop for the ceremony. I added some assorted glass vessels with white candles and love how it all turned out!

Sara loves fresh berries! I couldn't believe my luck when I found some growing nearby. What a fun treat to surprise her with them when she arrived onsite at the venue.

I loved spending time with these three and getting to know Sara's sister and mother. This image below is one of my favorites!
